How it works?

• Air Source heat pumps work by collecting the free heat from the outside air and efficiently transferring this energy to heat water and radiators, don’t worry about our cold winters as these systems work in temperatures as low as -15°C as there is always some heat in ambient air.

• The technology works in the same principles as a fridge, a fridge is cold inside + warm at the back. The warm part at the back is the bit that heats the water that in turn efficientlty heats your home.

• Although ASHP are powered by electricity they are classed as renewable energy because for every 1kW of energy used you could be producing 3kW of heat so therefore you have created an additional 2kW of free heat which is, in turn, classed as renewable energy.

• All this means greener energy and reduced energy bills for your home’s heating and hot water requirements!!!

Introduction to the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan

The Scottish Government funds the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan funding scheme. Homeowners can access the following funding:

• up to £15,000 to install a heat pump (up to £7,500 as a grant plus up to £7,500 as an optional loan, or £9,000 grant plus £7,500 optional loan if the household qualifies for the rural uplift)
• grants up to 75% of the combined cost of improvements to improve home energy efficiency (up to £7,500 as a grant, or £9,000 if the household qualifies for the rural uplift)
• up to £6,000 for energy storage systems (as an interest-free loan).

Example

For example, with heat pumps, you could receive up to £15,000 in funding. This breaks down to a £7,500 grant and you would pay back the remaining £7,500 as an interest-free loan.

The Steps

1. Get in Touch - We provide a full end-to-end service for property owners switching over to Air Source Heat Pumps. We help you choose a heat pump that will save money and reduce carbon emissions.
   
   
2. Detailed survey - We would then visit your property and produce for you a new free Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) which will grade your property and make their recommendations about how to improve its energy efficiency and reduce energy bills. We'll also run over heat pump siting, assess your current central heating system and the number/size of radiators required.
   
   
3. Detailed quotation - Based on the results in the audit report, running costs, renewable heat incentive potential, we will select the correct heat pump for your property’s heat and water requirements and email across a detailed quotation.
   
   
4. Installation - Our experienced teams of installers at Stewart Temperature Solutions have had specialist training with manufacturers, such as Mitsubishi. Our installations are all MCS accredited which allows access to the financial incentives. All of our air source heat pump installations are protected under warranty for your peace of mind.
